Sweeting Ends CDLC Season with Home Soil Triumph

Rashad Sweeting rounded off the 2026 Championship Darts Latin America and Caribbean Tour in style on Sunday, defeating Joshua Balfour 6-3 to claim the Event Six title in Nassau.

The Bahamian star reached his third final in as many events on home soil, and after back-to-back defeats to Jesus Salate, Sweeting finally got his reward with a title-winning performance in the final event of the season.

It was Sweeting’s first CDLC Tour title since Event Four of the 2025 season, which also came in The Bahamas on July 27 last year — almost one year to the day.

Balfour had produced one of the moments of the weekend in the semifinals, ending Salate’s perfect Nassau run in a last-leg decider. The Trinidad and Tobago World Cup debutant survived five match darts from the Argentinian before pinning double six to reach the final, averaging 87.82 to Salate’s 86.86 in a superb contest.

Sweeting, meanwhile, booked his place in the showpiece with a 6-2 quarterfinal win over seventh seed Dean Persad, before defeating third seed Norman Madhoo 6-4 in the semifinals.

In the final, Balfour made the brighter start, moving 2-1 ahead after edging the second and third legs, but Sweeting responded by taking three on the spin to seize control.

The Bahamian produced the biggest finish of the final with a 106 checkout in leg five, and although Balfour stopped the run to close the gap to 4-3, Sweeting answered emphatically by winning the final two legs to complete a 6-3 victory.

Sweeting averaged 82.99 in the final, with Balfour close behind at 80.96, as the pair served up a fitting conclusion to the 2026 CDLC Tour.

Earlier in the day, Barbados’ Mark Griffith produced a career-best CDLC performance, reaching the quarterfinals as the only unseeded player to make the last eight before falling 6-1 to Salate.

Madhoo also came through a tight quarterfinal, edging James Walkin 6-5, while Balfour defeated fourth seed Sudesh Fitzgerald 6-3 to set up his dramatic semifinal meeting with Salate.

Salate still led the field statistically on the day, averaging 80.68 and firing in seven 180s, while Balfour’s 158 checkout against Salate was the highest finish of the event.

The conclusion of Event Six also confirmed the top eight players on the 2026 CDLC Tour Points List, each of whom will receive complimentary entry into PDC Q-School and a berth in the qualifying rounds of the Winmau World Masters.

Salate finished top of the rankings and, in addition to securing his return to the World Darts Championship, will receive an exemption through to the second stage of PDC Q-School.
