CDC Judgment Day Twice as Nice for “The Reaper”

Adam “The Reaper” Sevada put on a commanding display to claim his third career title – and second of the weekend – besting Stowe Buntz 7-3 to win at CDC Judgement Day, the final Main Tour Event of 2024 . Sevada delivered a blistering 100.92 average in the final, overpowering Buntz, who managed a respectable 95.85 but couldn’t match Sevada’s relentless form.

Sevada’s brilliance was on full display throughout the day. He kicked things off with a 5-1 demolition of Kiley Edmunds before firing near the 100-mark again with a 6-2 victory over Brian Fenlon. His quarterfinal clash saw him eliminate Canadian star David Cameron, a result that also dashed Cameron’s hopes of World Championship qualification, as Sevada took the match 6-4. In the semifinals, he held firm against an in-form Jason Watt, securing a 7-5 win and setting up his final encounter with Buntz.

For Buntz, it was a day of survival and resilience. Starting the day on the edge of World Championship qualification, he shook off a slow start with a 5-1 win over Anthony Romero, followed by a solid 5-2 victory against Ben Garner. In a tense quarterfinal, Buntz fought back from 3-0 down to nick by Jason Brandon 6-5 to keep his Ally Pally dreams alive before seeing off Doug Boehm 6-3 to set up a “win-and-in” Semifinal match against Alex Spellman, who was also in the running for the World Championship. In typical Stowe fashion, he responded to the immense pressure with arguably his best darts of the day, producing a clinical 7-3 win to shatter Spellman’s hopes, which made the final vs. Sevada a bit anticlimactic. Buntz will now return to the stage at most prestigious darts tournament in the world for a second year running, seeking to make a splash and avenge his first-round defeat last December.
