Cameron Seals Return to London with Stunning Comeback in A-Z Darts Trophy

David Cameron capped a high-stakes Double-In/Double-Out Saturday Special with a dramatic 7–6 victory over Stowe Buntz to claim the A-Z Darts Trophy in Brownsburg and cement his return to the World Darts Championship.

Cameron arrived needing only one match win to secure his return to the Ally Pally stage but proved a point by winning the event – his 10th CDC Tour title, a milestone matched only by Leonard Gates. After negotiating the early rounds, he edged Mike Scarborough 6-5 in the quarterfinals, defeated Jacob Taylor 7-3 in the semifinals, and finished with a blazing comeback in the final.

The title match was electric. Buntz burst to a 3-0 lead and stretched it to 5-2 behind three ton-plus finishes (157, 155, and 152). The momentum turned in leg eight when Cameron replied with a 127 checkout of his own, and from there he won four of the last five legs to snatch the trophy in a last-leg decider. It marked Buntz’s sixth final of the season and only the second that ended in heartbreak for the Virginia man.

Earlier, Taylor eliminated top seed Adam Sevada 6-5 in the quarterfinals before falling to Cameron in the semis. On the other side, Buntz defeated Jason Roker 6-4 and then saw off Leonard Gates 7-5 to reach the final. Scarborough and Nick McCoy became the first players from the Associates List to make a quarterfinal this year, while Roker returned to the last eight for the first time since Event 6 in Chicago.

On the stat sheet, Cameron led the event with an 86.00 average over 55 legs in the DI/DO format. Roker topped the maximums chart with seven 180s. Taylor’s consistency continued as he has now reached at least the quarterfinals in six of his nine appearances this season after missing the first half of the Tour due to family commitments.

The CDC season concludes Sunday in Brownsburg with the CDC Indianapolis 501, which will determine the 16 Continental Cup qualifiers, the six automatic berths (per country) for the 2026 Cross Border Darts Challenge, and the winner of the Jay Tomlinson Trophy.
