Stowe Buntz claimed his ninth career CDC title and fourth of the 2025 season on Saturday night, defeating Alex Spellman 7–3 in the final of the CDC Showdown in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
In a grueling evening under the “win-by-two clear legs” format, Buntz was dominant – dropping only 10 legs in the event and never being pushed to extra time. After dispatching Joey Lynaugh 6-2 in the quarterfinals and dominating Leonard Gates 7-1 in the semifinals, he delivered a commanding performance in the final to halt Spellman’s bid for a Saturday sweep.
Spellman had lifted the Cosmo Darts Championship title earlier in the day but couldn’t replicate the magic in the nightcap. His path to the final included a 6-1 quarterfinal win over Kiley Edmunds and a hard-fought 7-5 victory over top-seeded Adam Sevada in the semifinals. Spellman and Sevada also shared top honors in the 180 count, each firing in nine maximums.
The breakout performance of the night came from Jason Wilbur, who reached his first CDC quarterfinal after a 6-3 win over sixth seed Gary Mawson in the last 16. Wilbur was the only unseeded player to make the last eight, as ranked players proved too difficult to overcome elsewhere.
Jacob Taylor led the field in average at 88.91 over 24 legs, but ran into a tough extra-leg battle against Lynaugh, who sent the Canadian packing 7–5 in the round of 16.
With another title added to an already stellar season, Buntz continues to narrow the gap between he and Adam Sevada at the top of the 2025 standings with both vying for the top U.S. spot in race to the PaddyPower World Darts Championship.
The 2025 Championship Darts Circuit resumes Sunday with the Boomerang Tours Fiesta, and will conclude with a three-event stretch in Indianapolis, September 19–21 where the field for the Continental Cup will be confirmed, along with three automatic berths at the Alexandra Palace in December.

Alex Spellman produced a dominant performance on Saturday in Chicago, whitewashing David Cameron 7-0 in the final to claim the 2025 Cosmo Darts Championship, his fifth career CDC Main Tour title.
The win comes almost one year to the day from his last trip to the winner’s circle – in Event #11 of the 2024 CDC season in Niagara Falls – and it and adds to a trophy case that also includes a Continental Cup and Cross Border Darts Challenge crown. Spellman was in complete control in the final, not giving Cameron even one shot at double and dropping the Canadian man to 9-6 in CDC event finals.
Spellman’s path to the final included a 6-1 quarterfinal win over Gary Brooks and a 7-5 semifinal victory over Darryl Christie. He also topped the 180 leaderboard with 11 on the day – three more than Christie – and finished among the tournament’s top three in scoring.
Cameron, seeded third, edged Jacob Taylor 6-5 in the quarterfinals and survived a tense battle with Stowe Buntz in the semis, running out a deciding-leg win 7-6. Despite the final result, he remains firmly in provisional World Championship qualification as the top Canadian player on the circuit, still well clear of Darryl Christie.
While the top-four seeds all advanced to the quarterfinals, unseeded players were also well represented with Wyoming man, Gary Brooks, carrying the flag as he made his first career CDC quarterfinal appearance. Adam Sevada, freshly minted as the top-seed, was edged 6-5 by Christie in the quarters but posted the highest event average at 92.48 over 27 legs, just ahead of Christie’s 92.16 over 45.
With just five events remaining, the race for Continental Cup positioning continues to heat up with players like John Part, Jacob Taylor and Ross Snook needing strong performances over the remainder of this weekend and in Indianapolis next month to book their spots in Philadelphia.

Stowe Buntz capped off the Indianapolis weekend with another statement win, defeating Adam Sevada 7–6 in a thrilling final to capture the DJD Duel title and his eighth career CDC Tour victory.
The top seed was in dominant form throughout the day, dropping only two total legs in defeats of Trevor Buboltz and PDC Tour Card holder, Danny Lauby, to reach the quarterfinals. There, a whitewash 6-0 win over Jacob Taylor and a 7-4 semifinal triumph over David Cameron set up his third finals clash of the season with Sevada. This time, the Neon Nightmare was able to successfully parry multiple charges from The Reaper, holding his nerve after two multi-leg leads were erased and holding throw in the decider to hoist the trophy.
Sevada’s path saw him dispatch Scott Estle and Patrick Guariglia in quick fashion to reach the quarterfinals where he was unbothered by yesterday’s finalist, Jason Brandon, sweeping him aside 6-1. He then survived a last-leg decider against second-seeded Leonard Gates in the semis to return to the finals stage where Buntz exacted his revenge for their last two meetings.
Buntz’s 92.14 average over 43 legs led the field by a wide margin, with Cameron’s 87.58 the next closest. Sevada led the event in 180s, landing 12, two more than Gates.
The Tour’s elite rose to the occasion on Sunday, with all four semifinal spots claimed by the top four seeds. Friday’s champion, Darryl Christie, was the only unseeded player to reach the last eight, falling to Gates 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
With momentum firmly on his side, Buntz now sets his sights on Chicago, where the 2025 Championship Darts Circuit resumes August 23-24 with Events 11 through 13.

David Cameron emerged victorious in a dramatic day of set play action, edging Jason Brandon 5–4 in sets in a thrilling final to win the 2025 Winmau Darts Classic on Saturday in Indianapolis.
The Canadian showcased nerves of steel, surviving match darts in both the semifinals and final to claim his ninth career CDC title. Cameron battled through three consecutive deciding-set/deciding-leg matches to take the crown, surviving five match darts from Stowe Buntz in the semis and three more from Brandon in the final.
Cameron’s 89.50 tournament average topped the field across 71 legs played, while Brandon posted the most 180s with 11 — four more than Cameron — in his first final appearance since 2023. Despite a brilliant run, Brandon remains in search of his first CDC title since the Tour’s inaugural season in 2015.
In the semifinals, Cameron outlasted Buntz 4–3, while Brandon took down Doug Boehm by the same scoreline to reach the final. The quarterfinals saw Jason Brandon stun third seed Adam Sevada 3–2 and Doug Boehm post a solid 3–1 win over Kaidon Newberry. Buntz and Cameron each came through tight contests as well, with Cameron edging Steve Warnock 3–2 and Buntz dispatching Jacob Taylor 3–1.
Elsewhere, Alex Spellman produced a stunning moment in defeat, losing a set with a 127.5 average, one of the most remarkable statistical anomalies in CDC history. Friday’s champion Darryl Christie saw his run halted in the last 32 by Brandon, whose high-scoring form drove him all the way to the final.

Darryl Christie claimed his first career CDC Tour title on Sunday, defeating Jacob Taylor 7-5 in the final of the CDC Showcase in Indianapolis to cap off a breakthrough day on the North American circuit.
“The Natural Disaster” swept through the field on the back of his stellar finishing, never being pushed to a last-leg decider despite not cracking the top 10 in event averages. The Canadian produced a composed 6-0 whitewash of Nick Linberg in the quarterfinals and followed with a 7-4 victory over two-time Continental Cup champion Leonard Gates in the semifinals before closing out the title against the eighth-seeded Taylor.
Jacob Taylor earned his spot in the final with a 7-5 semifinal win over Chris McHargue and a 6-4 quarterfinal victory against Kiley Edmunds. Taylor also was second in 180s on the day behind only Doug Boehm, who fired in 14 before falling just short against Gates in a last-leg quarterfinal thriller.
McHargue impressed with a run to the semifinals—his deepest finish yet on the CDC Tour—taking out David Cameron in the last-16 and then Kaidon Newberry in the quarters. Cameron, despite leading the field with a 92.93 average, was again denied a deep run after running into inspired opposition early.
With three unseeded players reaching the quarterfinals, the event showcased the increasing depth and competitiveness across the CDC landscape as the race to the Continental Cup and World Championship qualification continues to tighten.

Stowe Buntz returned to the CDC winner’s circle on Sunday afternoon in Chicago, winning the DartConnect Challenge – capping a dominant day of darts with a 7–3 victory over Gary Mawson in the final.
Buntz was in top form from the first dart to the last, posting a tournament-leading 87.51 average (closely followed by Adam Sevada’s 86.11) and dropping just 12 legs across six matches. After whitewashing Doug Boehm in the quarterfinals and surviving a deciding leg in a tense semifinal against Danny Young, Buntz found another gear in the final, averaging 92.70 to cruise past Mawson, with a 144 checkout in the 6th leg serving as a springboard to his seventh career CDC title.
For Mawson, the run to the final was highlighted by a gritty 7–6 semifinal victory over Adam Sevada, halting the top American’s remarkable 28-match winning streak and ending his dream of a fifth consecutive CDC title. Earlier in the day, Mawson took out Rory Hansen—who was making his first career quarterfinal appearance—and now moves to 4–5 all-time in CDC finals.
Sevada, who was vying for his second consecutive weekend sweep, fell just short but still impressed, finishing second in average (87.51) and leading the field in 180s with 8. Buntz and Hansen were right behind with 7 apiece.
Danny Young made his presence felt once again, reaching his third semifinal of the season with a win over another quarterfinal debutant, Shane Rattigan. His 96.97 average in the last 16 was one of the highest single-match marks of the day.
