Young Breaks Through as Sevada and Hall Grab MSG Spots
Danny Young claimed his first CDC Tour title on Sunday, edging Ronald Sargent 7-6 in a dramatic Winmau USA Classic final in Philadelphia.
Young and Sargent both broke new ground by reaching their first CDC Tour event final, and they delivered a fitting finale to the weekend as the 2026 Championship Darts Circuit reached the conclusion of Event #4.
The 13th seed came through a wide-open draw to take the title, knocking off yesterday’s champion, Leonard Gates, 6-5 in the last-16 before brushing aside fifth seed Alex Spellman 6-3 in the quarterfinals and producing a commanding 7-2 semifinal win over New York’s Joey Lynaugh.
Sargent also took full advantage of a tough day for the seeded players, battling past third seed David Cameron 6-5 in the quarterfinals before sweeping aside John Cioffoletti 7-2 in the semifinals to reach the showpiece.
The final proved a fantastic contest, with Sargent producing the higher average at 89.92 and firing in three 180s, only for Young – battling through a bout of dartitis – to hold his nerve in the decisive moments.
Sargent landed a 114 checkout during the match and produced a superb 12-dart leg to force a deciding leg, but Young responded in style, closing out the title with a 15-dart leg to complete a memorable 7-6 victory.
It was a difficult day for the seeded players overall, with only four seeds advancing to the quarterfinals. Spellman was among them, breaking out of a frustrating run of results to reach his first CDC quarterfinal of the season before falling to Young.
Cioffoletti also enjoyed a landmark performance, reaching his first CDC semifinal in only the fourth event of his career. His run included a 6-5 quarterfinal win over Glen Richard, who had impressed one day earlier with a semifinal appearance on his CDC debut.
The conclusion of the Winmau USA Classic also confirmed the final two berths for the U.S. Darts Masters later this month at Madison Square Garden.
Adam Sevada will return to the MSG stage for a third consecutive year after finishing the weekend as the top American on the 2026 CDC Tour Points List.
On the Canadian side, 23-year-old Brayden Hall will make his big-stage debut later this month. Hall finished second to David Cameron among Canadian players, but claimed the qualifying spot because Cameron had already secured his place by winning the Cross Border Darts Challenge in April.
Sevada led the field, averaging 90 over three matches before being knocked out by BJ Pollock in the last-16
Sargent fired in 7 180s on the day, one better than Leonard Gates
The CDC Tour resumes in Indianapolis July 17-19 with three more events.
