Sevada Shines in Cambridge to Claim Cosmo Classic Crown
Adam Sevada capped off a strong day on the CDC Tour with a 7-5 victory over top seed Stowe Buntz to claim the Cosmo Darts Classic title on Saturday in Cambridge, Ontario.
Sevada’s run to the championship was marked by consecutive wins over the tournament’s top three seeds—David Cameron, Leonard Gates, and Stowe Buntz—to close out the event. His steady form across 49 legs earned him a tournament-best three-dart average of 90.76 among players with more than one match. He also tallied 10 maximums, just one short of the event leaders.
Buntz appeared poised to add another title to his growing résumé, grinding out a 7-5 win over Nick Linberg in the last 16 before defeating Doug Boehm and Alex Spellman to book his spot in the final. The title match was a tightly contested battle, but Sevada held his nerve down the stretch to deny the No. 1 seed and lift the trophy.
The day also featured standout efforts from rising star Kaidon Newberry, who pushed Gates to a sudden-death leg in the quarterfinals—marking the deepest CDC Tour run of his career—and David Cameron, who brought the crowd to its feet with a picture-perfect 170 checkout, the tournament’s highest.
Although Ross Snook exited early following a narrow first-round loss to Albert Anstey, his 95.16 average was the highest tournament average posted on the day. While achieved in a single match, it served as an encouraging glimpse of the top-tier form he’s capable of and will certainly instill confidence on a deeper run in tomorrow’s event.
The CDC Tour resumes Sunday with Event #4—the DJD Masters—set to begin at 11:00 AM Eastern.
